Embed benchmark
What a Paraplex scene costs the page it sits on: what it downloads, how soon it shows, and how smoothly it plays. Measured through the player your visitors get, not estimated.
Measured
Chromium, nothing cached, an 800 × 450 frame on a 2× screen, over a 10 Mbps connection with 40 ms round trips. Measured on a Mac with M1 Max, 2026-10-13.
| Scene | Downloads | Of which script | First frame | Frame rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Card stack | 1.0 MB | 657 KB | 1.50 s | 120 fps |
| Fasto | 1.1 MB | 711 KB | 1.40 s | 120 fps |
| The Drift liquid glass | 1.0 MB | 657 KB | 1.46 s | 42 fps |
How it's measured
- First frame runs from the page starting to the first whole frame on screen: type set in its fonts and models loaded. Until then the embed shows its poster, a still of that frame.
- Frame rate counts the frames drawn over the last two of five seconds of playing. It can't go past the screen's own refresh rate.
- Downloads is everything the embed fetches, compressed as sent: the player, the scene, its fonts and its pictures.
- The player draws at the size the embed is shown, so a smaller embed costs less. It starts drawing only once it scrolls into view, and stops when it scrolls away.
