Gradient background generator
Soft fields of color, flowing bands, or glows of light on a dark ground — moving, and made to loop without a seam. Pick the colors and how it moves, then download a 4K still or the loop: free, no watermark, no account.
How to make it
- Choose a kind — Mesh, Waves or Glow — and a palette, or set the five colors yourself.
- Set how it moves and how long a loop lasts: 6, 10 or 15 seconds.
- Turn the dials, or shuffle for another arrangement. The preview is the export, frame for frame.
- Download a PNG at twice the frame — 3840 × 2160 for 16:9, a 4K wallpaper — or the MP4 loop. Or open it in Paraplex to put type, a device or a 3D model over it.
Three kinds
- Mesh
- five colors, each a soft field around a point that drifts round its place — the classic mesh gradient.
- Waves
- the colors as bands across the frame, flowing; turn them to any angle.
- Glow
- the first color is the ground, the others glows of light drifting over it — the dark hero background of a product page.
The dials
- Motion
- how far things move in a loop; at zero the gradient holds still.
- Warp
- how much the colors' shapes bend and ripple.
- Softness
- soft, wide blends at the top, crisper edges between colors at the bottom.
- Grain
- film grain over it, which keeps a smooth gradient from showing steps on a screen or in a video.
- Angle
- which way the waves run.
- Shuffle
- another arrangement of the same colors.
Questions
What makes the loop seamless?
Everything in it turns a whole number of times a loop, so its last frame leads straight back into its first: played on repeat, there is no jump.
Is it free?
Yes. The generator and its downloads are free, without a watermark or an account. Paraplex's free plan includes the editor the Open in Paraplex button takes you to.
What sizes does it export?
16:9, square, 4:5 and 9:16. A PNG is twice the frame (3840 × 2160 for 16:9); the MP4 is the frame's own size, a loop of 6, 10 or 15 seconds.
Why add grain?
A smooth gradient can show steps — bands where one shade turns into the next — on some screens and after video compression. A little grain hides them.
Can I put text on it?
Open it in Paraplex: the gradient becomes the scene's background with its dials as they are here, and you can add type, a device mockup or a 3D model over it.
